One night, two amazing performers of music and a great connection. While I was at the show that marked Tito Puente's birthday it was also a memorial show as it was 25 years ago tomorrow that the world lost its Mambo King, Tito Puente. The night was filled with stories of his father and his mother. Even Jr. Jr. was there and played a song of his grandfather and sang a song of his own launching his music career earlier this year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tito_Puente
Just a bit later before the show began Tito was told that Carmine Appice was there to see him. Carmine is pure legend. As a young teen I can remember listening to Vanilla Fudge and now to finally meet the drummer was a mind blast. His credits are a Who's who of music including Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Stanley Clarke and Paul Stanley. He saw the art work I did of Tito and we talked about it. After a bit more of the conversation we agreed that I should take his photo and possibly turn it into art like Tito's. I look forward to being busy taking photos of legends.
